Who i am

I’m Lorraine Kaye — a finance director by day, an artist by instinct, and a lifelong explorer of the strange, beautiful, and unexpected. My work is rooted in a deeply personal journey: the ongoing challenge of finding your place in a world that prizes a narrow version of beauty. Art, for me, is a way of reclaiming space — of expressing identity, complexity, and contradiction in full color.

My creative world is an eclectic mix. I draw inspiration from the emotional intensity of Turner, the bold vulnerability of Andrew Salgado, the dreamlike surrealism of Dorothea Tanning, the wild energy of Franz Marc, and the rebellious spirit of Vivienne Westwood — with a healthy dash of Hello Kitty’s unapologetic charm. That tension between high art and pop culture, between control and chaos, is where my voice lives.

I’m fascinated by the unusual and offbeat — from freeform crocheting to devouring Japanese literature, K-dramas, and all things Doctor Who. I’m a foodie with a curious palette, always searching for new experiences to translate into shape and texture.

Despite my mathematical background, my artwork doesn’t follow a formula, and neither do I. I create to explore what it means to belong, to not belong, and to exist somewhere in between — messy, vibrant, and real. Thank you for stepping into my world. I hope it makes you feel seen.
